Neutraceutical Values of Jack Fruit

Artocarpusheterophyllus commonly called Jack fruitis the largest tree fruit in the world, capable of growing big and heavy pods which are packed with protein and loads of other nutrients like Vitamin B and Potassium. Once the Jackfruit was counted as poor’s food, now being as super food for biryani, dry vegetable burger etc. It is making way in almost a variety of Indian food as it is eaten as vegetable when pod is unripe. Jack fruits seeds are rich in thiamin and riboflavin which help in turning the food into energy and keep eyes, skin and hair healthy. The seeds also provide small amounts of minerals like zinc, iron, calcium, copper, potassium and magnesium.

In January 2017 fancy food show in U.S, it was star ingredient. At present time Western countries accepting it as the alternate of pork or mutton. In thesecountries jack fruit consumption is increasing day by day in the preparation of sandwich or burgers.Dry powder is also used in making Dosa, Chapatti and Idli. Beside edible items jack fruit is also helpful to maintain human health against several diseases and reflects its importance.
