Awareness Session on Sports Injury Prevention under Huddle 360 Program

An engaging awareness session on Sports Injury Prevention was recently organized at Uttaranchal P.G. College of Bio-Medical Sciences & Hospital under the holistic wellbeing program Huddle 360, curated by SR Nx Healthium. The session aimed to educate students on the importance of injury prevention in sports and promote physical wellbeing through expert insights into strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, nutrition, and fitness.

Held on 3rd July 2025, the program was conducted at two locations  Shewala Khurd, Dehradun and Hardwar, Haridwar  and witnessed active participation from students and faculty alike. The session featured seasoned physiotherapists who emphasized practical approaches to sports safety and physical preparedness.

This initiative not only enhanced the students’ understanding of preventive healthcare in sports but also contributed to their professional development in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation sciences.

Empowering Communities Through Rural Health Education

As part of their community outreach program, nursing students from UCBMSH actively visited various households in rural areas of Doiwala, Uttarakhand. Divided into small groups, they engaged with local residents to raise awareness about essential health topics such as balanced diets (weaning, fibre-rich, protein-rich, and constipation-specific diets), dehydration management, and the importance of using homemade ORS. The initiative provided an opportunity for hands-on learning while also contributing significantly to rural health education. These efforts helped bridge the gap between healthcare knowledge and remote communities, fostering better health practices at the grassroots level.

Celebrating Academic Excellence and Community Impact

The recent convocation and health awareness initiatives at Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Medical Education University have set a remarkable standard for future events. The 7th convocation ceremony was a proud occasion, honoring the dedication and achievements of students from various departments. Graduates were awarded degrees, and outstanding performers like Taranpreet from the OTT department and Shatakshi from the Optometry department were recognized with bronze medals for their academic excellence.

In addition to academic celebrations, the university also demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility. Students organized a tuberculosis awareness program, where GNM 3rd year and BSc 4th semester students performed a skit to educate the public about tuberculosis. This initiative played a significant role in spreading health awareness and emphasized the importance of conducting such programs regularly to benefit the community.

These events highlight the university’s dual focus on academic achievement and societal well-being, inspiring continued efforts to foster both educational excellence and community engagement in future programs.

Nursing Students Lead World Tuberculosis Day Awareness Drive in Dehradun

The NSS Unit of Uttaranchal (P.G.) College of Bio-Medical Sciences & Hospital (UCBMSH) organized a comprehensive community outreach programme on March 24, 2025, to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day. Held at the busy City Bus Stand and the UCBMSH campus in Dehradun, the event was part of a week-long NSS camp focused on health awareness and environmental conservation. Under the expert guidance of faculty members Ms. Shardha Saini, Mrs. Lipika, and Ms. Anchal, the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and public understanding regarding one of the world's most persistent infectious diseases.

The heart of the programme featured a creative and impactful street play (skit) performed by GNM 3rd-year and B.Sc. 4th-semester nursing students. This performance was strategically designed to capture the attention of commuters and locals, effectively highlighting the critical causes, symptoms, and prevention methods of Tuberculosis. Beyond just sharing facts, the students worked to dismantle the social stigma and misconceptions that often prevent individuals from seeking help. By emphasizing that TB is curable and that free testing and treatment are readily available at government hospitals, the programme served as a vital call to action for early diagnosis and treatment adherence.
