Polyvinyl Chloride, is the world’s third-most widely produced synthetic plastic polymer, it is non- toxic and inert. .It is present in two basic forms: rigid and flexible. The rigid form of PVC is used in construction for pipe and in doors and windows. It is also used for bottles, other non-food packaging, and cards (such as bank or membership cards). Its properties can be improved by the addition of plasticizers.
It is widely used in no of products in medical industry .Its important applications include ; Blood bags and tubing ,Catheters ,Dialysis Equipment and tubing ,Drip Chambers ,Examination gloves ,Inhalation Masks , Seals ,Device packaging , Surgical Wires, This was just a glimpse of widely used non- toxic polymer P.V.C whose invention has greatly contributed in various fields and is being used as a substitute for rubber.
