REPORT ON: Visit to ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation

Objective of the visit:
- To visit museum and to make students understand about watershed-based protection and production technologies.
- To enhance knowledge of the students about soil chemistry and its properties.
This was one day educational visit report of B.Sc. Forestry (1st Semester) and M.Sc.(3rd Semester) to Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The visit was organized by Dr. Shikha Thakur and Ms. Anju Rawat, Assistant Professor, Department of Forestry to supervise the students in the institute during the lecture sessions. Guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Rajneesh Bishnoi, Scientist, CSWCRTI, Dehradun. He gave the information about the working module of the institute. Trainings provided by them to overseas scientists and research based scholars. The ICAR developed 47 model watersheds in sixteen states in collaboration with State Agricultural Universities and State Departments. The research and training experience of the Institutes and its Research Centres is being utilized by the Ministries of Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment & Forests, and various Central and State departments in their developmental programmes.

Conclusion: The visit was successful accomplished by the students to know about importance of how to conserve soil and water along with their management. This educational tour has enhanced the practical and theoretical knowledge of students, which could be useful for their forestry career and future endeavors.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
